New Danville Fire Company is a 100% volunteer organization, providing fire and rescue services since approximately 1931. NDFC was originally part of the Big 4 Fire Companies, which were organized around 1919, before forming our own charter, in the early 30's. Our first due coverage area consists of the western portion of Pequea Township, and the northernmost portion of Conestoga Township. We provide assistance, on a mutual aid basis, wherever we are requested, with frequent responses to surrounding municipalities. We also receive assistance from other area fire companies as needed.
NDFC has been dispatched to 150 or more incidents each year. We have 20-25 active volunteers who respond 24/7, 365 days a year, to a call for help. If you are interested in volunteering your time to serve the community, stop at the station any Monday evening, after 7 PM. No prior experience is needed. You don't have to go into burning buildings to volunteer with the fire company. We need folks who are willing to serve as fire police officers, truck drivers, and those willing to help with fundraisers and administrative tasks. The minimum age for membership is 14. If you live in or near our first due area, please consider checking us out.
Although the company is staffed entirely by volunteers, your support is necessary, as we maintain vehicles, a station, and small equipment. We continue to serve the community through your donations to our annual fund drive, your support at fundraising events, banquet facility rentals, an annual contribution from the township, and we apply for (and have been fortunate to receive some) federal and state grants. We have practiced discretion in spending, recently purchasing used equipment to meet the needs of the community, saving hundreds of thousands of dollars.
