Engine 2 and the tanker were dispatched on the first alarm assignment assisting 53 Conestoga on the reported building fire on Main Street. First arriving units from 53 reported a working fire and smoke was visible from the New Danville area. Engine 2 crew along with crew from Squad 55 which ran extra were assigned various fireground tasks including staging officer and operations sector. Tanker supplied several loads of water. The involved building was an old barn which had been converted into a business on the first floor and an apartment on the upper level. The numerous renovations that had taken place over the years created numerous void spaces allowing fire to travel quickly throughout the structure. This fire was a very labor intensive operation with numerous crews working to open up and extinguish fire. The 55 units returned to station around 2300.
